Known for her infectious personality and insatiable energy, media maven Vanessa James uses her multi-platform career to inspire others everyday.A native of Miami with Trinidadian roots, Vanessa is a graduate of The Florida State University with a degree in Mass Media Studies and Spanish. For over twelve years, she kept Florida on the pulse of all things new in music, entertainment and community in multiple markets with her popular radio shows. First, as the midday host and program director of WBWT-FM in Tallahassee, where she would be the youngest female program director on the IHeartRadio roster to Miami’s popular urban station WMIB-FM 1035 The Beat, where she proudly held multiple roles as the stations Music and Marketing Director as well as its primetime Midday host.

As radio is the backbone of Vanessa’s career in media, she utilized those versatile skills to propel her into the world of entrepreneurship in 2008 when she launched Vanessa James Media, LLC. Born out of necessity as a way to be compensated for freelance hosting and voiceover work, VJMedia was born.

Her undeniable voice prompted the Atlas Agency to sign her for representation in 2011 and as result James now serves as the voice of over thirty radio and television stations nationally as well as several notable brands. After successfully working with premiere brands such as Palace Resorts, Barbados Tourism Authority and the Miami Heat, James has lent her voice talents to world renowned brands such as: Macy’s, Starbucks, Microsoft, RCA Records, Monster Products, and most recently ESPN and JetBlue to which she has voiced several ongoing campaigns. She’s also a seasoned podcast contributor, soon to be launching a new platform to help to be podcasters master their craft.

Pushing her platform to new heights in recent years, James propelled her voiceover business into a 360° hub where her versatile talents merge; Vanessa James Media, LLC. Through this effort VJMedia as its coined, is a comprehensive company that leverages James’ expertise in lifestyle media, content creation, brand strategy, creative partnerships, event production and of course voiceover services. Vanessa continues to be celebrated as one Miami’s premier bi-lingual, female multi-media personalities providing services as an experienced content creator, producer, entertainment correspondent, blogger, and brand ambassador.

For Vanessa, the give back has always been an important part of her entrepreneurial existence hence why she created two signature ventures to celebrate creators everywhere. After years of networking in the marketplace, James was urged to expand the reach of the VJMedia brand, creating the annual VJMedia Mixology. The event serves as the signature event for connection and a major collision point between national brands with content creators, bloggers, influencers, tastemakers, entrepreneurs and traditional media.

In addition to VJMedia Mixology, James recently added another curated experience to her portfolio with the single goal of elevating the voice of female entrepreneurs and change agents in her community. The annual Women of Impact Dinner series, which takes place each December in Miami celebrates 20 female power players, their entrepreneurial success as well as their community give back. The dinner series received such acclaim, that Vanessa has decided to expand its reach with plans to curate similar experiences in New York, Atlanta and her homeland of Trinidad & Tobago in the coming months.

Vanessa’s strong connection to the Caribbean transformed her passion for travel and her desire to champion the many cultures and stories that are often untold. Through her freelance work with outlets such as USAToday, 10 Best, Miami.com, HelloBeautiful and Caribbean National Weekly, James has created a niche as a travel correspondent and ambassador and contributor highlighting locations such as: The BVI (British Virgin Islands), Jamaica, Cancun, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago. James also served as the live stream host and social media correspondent to the popular Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival in Montego Bay, where she interviewed international stars Damian Marley, Chronixx, Destra Garcia, John Legend, Usain Bolt, Diana Ross and more. She also served as a social media correspondent and content contributor at the Essence Music Festival in 2016 and 2017.

Most recently, James added producer and event curator to her portfolio, leading the music platform for Hispanicize, the national U.S. Hispanic conference celebrating Latino trendsetters and newsmakers. James was tapped to curate the music experience in 2012 where she served as the Music Director alongside CEO Manny Ruiz and partner Katherine Johnson.

The production itch caught James by storm in 2014 with the start of James’ latest venture, her docu-series Carnival To the World ™ which is currently in production. In the twelve part docu-series- James serves as the creator, host and executive producer alongside partner and director Adrian Allen. Carnival To The World will showcase the many Carnivals of the world, the people, music, culture, food and music that make each uniquely special. James will shed a light on the Caribbean, South America, Europe and US mainland’s annual carnivals as she champions their stories and cultural message. Using her on-camera charisma and story-telling interview skills, James will provide viewers with an up-close and personal experience that will tap into uncharted territories not yet told on the small screen. This venture close to her heart and culture encapsulates her strong desire to tell new stories and highlight new experiences that the world needs to see.
